TLDR: An exploratory art program where artists are funded to create and mint CC0 art for Nouns. Selected artists become the voters on future rounds, creating a perpetual sybil resistant small grants body; For Artists, by Artists.
Through this proposal we will:
- Onboard, empower, and fund ~100 artists to create CC0 artwork.
- Showcase a large body of CC0 artwork on ArtistProgram.org.
- Mint artwork as a perpetual revenue source for Nouns (op, base, zora, bound, etc)
- Build a perpetual program and voting block; “For Artists, by Artists.”
Program Details:
💰 Small Grants for Artists Eligible artists will receive .3 ETH per proposal, distributed through rounds on Prop.House. We’ll run 5 rounds with 6 ETH each, a total of 30 ETH distributed to ~100 artists.
🔗 An Artist Hub (ArtistProgram.org) We are currently developing ArtistProgram.org as a proof of concept. As the program progresses, the site will showcase art created by participants in the Artist Program. Our plans for the website expansion include:
- A dedicated gallery for each epoch of the Artist Program.
- A dedicated space for onboarding artists.
- Educational resources about CC0, the grant program, and minting artwork.
- A platform to promote the work of Artist Program participants.

💬 Onboard and Educate We’ll attract artists with small grants, but educate them on CC0 and the public domain. Our goal is to encourage onboarding of new web3 participants — We’ll help artists create wallets (if needed), mint artwork to earn rewards on their art, for life. A goal will be to create long-standing community members through a great experience with CC0, ethereum and the Nouns ecosystem.
🎨 For Artists, by Artists The program will begin with five program directors voting for artists in the Inaugural Round. As artists are accepted into the program and their artwork is delivered they’ll be airdropped one artist voting token which can be used as a voting token on future funding rounds launched after receiving the token — Reducing the Director influence over artist selection.
*By the end of this program we will have built a body of 100 artists, selected by their peers, and who can vote on future rounds.

💸 CC0 Requirements Artists will be required to sign CC0 releases designating the artwork produced for the program is fully licensed for the public domain.
Ⓜ️ Minting Artwork Artists will be required to mint their work where a portion of the fees is shared with the DAO and to help sustain and bring visibility to the project.
It is mandatory for artists to mint their work as CC0 on an Ethereum-compatible blockchain. While sharing 10% of the fees with the DAO is encouraged to support and enhance the project, this contribution is not obligatory.

- Selected Artists vote on artists in upcoming rounds creating a perpetual, sybil resistant voting block: For Artists, by Artists.

- Artists apply to the program via Prop.House rounds.
- Program token holders vote.
- Artists are accepted to the program and sent a 0.1 ETH upfront reward, and commitment to fund their work on completion.
- Artists create their artwork and sign a CC0 release.
- Artists mint their artwork.
- The remaining .2 ETH reward is sent to the artist along with their voting token.
- Artists are eligible to vote on future rounds.

- Submissions must be CC0.
- Submissions must be minted (op, base, zora, bound, etc), with splits.
- Artists can only be selected/funded once for this set of Prop.House Rounds.
- Submissions can be any form of art: illustrations, photography, IRL art, music, dance, poetry, etc.
Note: This is an experiment, rules can be changed by program directors if we feel like there is a major flaw or issue. All of this will be listed in detail on ArtistProgram.org before the rounds begin.
Total Funding: 40 ETH
- 30 ETH distributed to ~100 artists across 5 Prop.House rounds.
- 10 ETH to the team for operating the program:
- Promote rounds and attract hundreds of artists to the program.
- Running and voting on Prop.House rounds.
- Disqualifying malicious or duplicate proposals.
- Assure artists turn in finished works, sign CC0 release, and mint works.
- Gas fees associated with distributing final rewards to 100 artists (ETH + tokens).
- Operating a small discord for Q/A & Program member/voter information.
- Onboarding, educating, and helping each artist (who needs it) with the full process (wallet creation, proposal, minting, understanding CC0, etc.).
- Operating an X account to help promote the program and attract artists.
- Finish building the website and various pages to support the program (About, Program Details, Education, etc.).
- Maintain the website by adding artists and their artwork on an ongoing basis.
- Multiple propdates / final report at the end of the trial.

Some Background:
The Artist Program is an idea we came up with after running two experiments in Lil Nouns, the PPP (Perpetual POAP Program) and the Airdropoooor Program.
- The PPP was a program that connected artists with spaces and event hosts to create POAPs (we had over 2000 mints across program POAPs).
- The Airdropoooor Program was an artist outreach program that airdropped art for governance qualifications as well as a free mint for Lil Nouns Token Holders.
