As of December 2023, nouns.camp is the leading Nouns governance client, with over 50% of all votes cast from Camp. In total, roughly 700 successful votes and 300 other onchain actions have been submitted via Camp. We average around 100 visitors and 500 page views per day. [1]

We recently launched the ability to create proposals and candidates via Camp — a step towards our near/midterm goal to reach feature parity with nouns.wtf and improve every single aspect of the Nouns governance experience.

Looking further ahead, we're excited to iterate on onchain touchpoints (eg video proposals) to expand the governance meta and reach new audiences. Among other things, we also want to make it easier for teams to build on Nouns and plan to help maintain Nouns contract subgraphs.

As for deeper running motivations, we believe impressive internal software can help attract both talent and true fans to Nouns, effectively growing our corner of the internet, and we intend for Camp to be a shining example of crypto infrastructure.

Camp is built by Obvious, Inc., a Delaware C-corp led by krel and backed by VCs like Y Combinator. We're making a bet on Nouns as an emergent platform, and as of 2024, 100% of our resources go into building Camp. The founding team consists of krel, olli, and prego (full-time on Camp from January).

Funding request

  • 40 eth and Noun 808 as retro funding for the work done on Camp so far. [2]
  • A payment stream of $33k USDC per month for the entirety of 2024 (12 months). We commit to providing regular status updates via Propdates.
  • Total: $396k USDC + 40 eth + Noun 808

Notes

[1] The numbers provided are best estimates. We're doing work to improve our metrics tracking going forward. [2] Krel played a small part in creating the backpack head trait, and we feel this particular girl scout belongs at the Camp. We promise to give her a loving home.
